Coming in Fall of 2025!

Walking School Bus

The Penticton Safety Village is thrilled to launch our very first Walking School Bus routes in Fall 2025, beginning with Skaha Lake and KVR Elementary Schools!

A Walking School Bus is a group of children walking to or from school along a set route, supervised by screened and trained adult volunteers—just like a traditional school bus, but on foot! Kids are picked up and dropped off at designated “bus stops” along the way, promoting safe, active transportation and helping children build road safety skills, confidence, and friendships.

This free program supports families with a safe, reliable way for children to get to school while reducing traffic congestion, improving air quality, and encouraging daily physical activity.

Our vision is to grow this initiative by adding more schools and routes in the coming years to serve even more families across the community.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support of the Society for Children and Youth of BC and Vision Zero, whose partnership has helped us bring this much-needed safety education resource to life.

Let’s walk safely, together—one step at a time.
