Coming in Fall of 2025!
Walking School Bus
We’re excited to launch Walking School Bus programs in Penticton this Fall!
This important initiative is made possible through the support of School District 67 and the City of Penticton, who are working in collaboration with us to make active travel safer and easier for families across our community. Together, we’re helping children build healthy habits, gain independence, and travel to school in a fun and safe way.
We are also deeply grateful to our funding partners. The Walking School Bus route at Skaha Lake Elementary for the 2025–26 school year is made possible through the generous funding from the Province of British Columbia and are delivered in partnership with the Society for Children and Youth of BC. In addition, thanks to the Vision Zero grant, we are proud to add a second route serving KVR Elementary. Their investment in our community makes it possible for us to bring this program to life, and we hope to expand to even more schools in the future.
What is a Walking or Biking School Bus?
A walking or biking school bus is an organized group of students who walk or ride their bikes to and from school together, guided by caring adult leaders. Just like a traditional bus, they follow a set route with designated stops to pick up and drop off students—except this one is powered by people!
